Job Summary

This role seeks a highly motivated Computational Biologist or Computer Scientist to join the Department of Translational Genomics at a leading university hospital in Cologne. The primary focus is leveraging high-throughput data (whole genome, single-cell sequencing, and proteomics) to understand cancer progression and molecular profiles. Day-to-day responsibilities include standardizing computational workflows, developing specialized software, managing large-scale IT processes, and applying high-performance computing to complex biological data analysis. The successful candidate will also manage the computational infrastructure, ensuring data security and sharing for the SFB1399 project. Candidates must possess a university degree in a relevant quantitative field (Physics, Computational Biology, etc.) and demonstrate profound experience in mathematical data analysis and programming (C++, R, or Python). This fixed-term position offers intensive mentoring and collaboration with global leaders in a state-of-the-art research environment.

Required Skills

Education

University degree (Bachelor of Science minimum) in Physics, Mathematics, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, or Biostatistics. Advanced degree (Master of Science or Ph.D.) preferred.
