This role involves supporting the City Treasury department in Mettmann by managing central business accounting operations. The Administrative Assistant will independently assess all business transactions, verify the coding, authorization, and payment terms of incoming and outgoing invoices, and ensure the availability of budgetary funds. Key daily tasks include booking receivables and payables on debtor and creditor accounts, managing general ledger transactions, assisting with annual closing entries, and maintaining master data within the financial software (Ab-Data knowledge is a plus). Candidates must possess a relevant commercial or administrative qualification and professional experience in public administration or accounting. This full-time, two-year fixed-term position requires a structured, careful, and self-reliant working style to ensure timely bookings and compliance with proper accounting principles.

Required Skills

Education

Completed training as an Administrative Specialist (Verwaltungsfachangestellte) OR completed Administrative Course I (Verwaltungswirt) OR completed equivalent three-year commercial or administrative vocational training (e.g., Office Clerk, Office Communication Specialist)

Experience

  • Professional experience in public administration or accounting (required if qualification is commercial/administrative)
  • Experience in applying the financial software Ab-Data (desirable)
