Job Summary

This Research Associate role, based at the Technical University of Dresden (TUD) within the Faculty of Environmental Sciences, focuses on developing and implementing a Blockchain-based solution for roundwood logistics as part of the LogChain project. The successful candidate will be an analytical expert responsible for mathematically modeling logistical processes, developing digital models, and quantitatively evaluating results. Day-to-day tasks include integrating harvest and satellite data for precise georeferencing, assessing the efficiency and economics of digital timber harvesting and logistics chains, and conducting data collection. The role requires a background in fields like Business Informatics, Industrial Engineering, or Forestry Sciences, coupled with experience in Supply Chain Management and scripting language programming. This position offers the opportunity to work at the intersection of nature, technology, and digitalization, ensuring the transfer of research findings into practical applications by collaborating closely with forestry practitioners and machine manufacturers, culminating in publications and presentations at international conferences.

Required Skills

Education

Completed scientific university degree (M.Sc. or equivalent) in Business Informatics, Industrial Engineering, Geoinformatics, Applied Informatics, Forestry Sciences, or equivalent knowledge

Experience

  • Experience in logistics, supply chain management, or operations research
  • Experience with data recording and collection within project frameworks
  • Experience ensuring the transfer of research results into practical applications
