Job Summary
This role is a part-time (65%), fixed-term position as a Research Associate within the Medical Faculty of the Otto-von-Guericke University Magdeburg. The primary focus is executing a DFG-funded research project investigating inhibitory mechanisms in the immune system and human infection models. Daily tasks involve advanced laboratory work using molecular and cellular methods, including FACS analysis (Fortessa, MACS Quant Tyto), single-cell cytometry, signal transduction techniques (IP, Western blots), and RNASeq evaluations. Key responsibilities also include organizing specific lab areas, instructing colleagues on equipment use, and drafting essential scientific applications, such as animal welfare and ethics proposals. This position is highly attractive as it provides the opportunity to pursue a doctoral (PhD) or Habilitation thesis based on the ongoing project, and allows for qualification as a Specialist Immunologist (DGFI) or Safety Officer, all within a well-equipped, interdisciplinary research environment. Candidates must possess a Master's degree in a relevant scientific field and strong expertise in adaptive and T-cell immunology.

Master's degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Biotechnology, or equivalent
Experience
- Professional experience in adaptive immunology (theoretical and practical)
- Experience and willingness to work in T-cell immunology
- Experience with molecular and biochemical methods (cytometric single-cell analysis, signal transduction, RNASeq)
- Experience with cellular methods (cell processing, stimulation, transfection, ELI-Spot)
- Experience in drafting scientific applications (Animal Welfare/Ethics applications)
