Job Summary

This role is for a Professional System Engineer specializing in Network Technology, operating within the IT System House of the Federal Employment Agency (BA), which manages one of Germany's largest IT landscapes. The primary responsibility is ensuring the stability, high performance, and security of the nationwide network infrastructure, supporting approximately 180,000 networked PC workstations. Day-to-day tasks involve the planning, administration, and maintenance of IT systems and infrastructure, analyzing system requirements, and developing, updating, and monitoring both hardware and software components. A critical function includes acting as 3rd Level Support for decentralized network connectivity (LAN, WAN, VPN), organizing nationwide network technology lifecycles, and engaging in contract negotiations with large internet providers. Candidates must possess a university degree (preferably in Computer Science or Business Informatics) and fundamental knowledge of network architectures, routing, switching, WLAN, and VPN. The position offers an open, cooperative environment and the flexibility to work up to 80% remotely.
