Job Summary

This PhD Candidate role at Forschungszentrum Jülich focuses on the quantitative assessment of the macro-economic effects of the transition towards a greenhouse gas-neutral global energy system. The successful candidate will join the Institute of Climate and Energy Systems, working within an international, interdisciplinary research team. Key responsibilities include developing and refining quantitative methods, creating dynamic and multi-sectoral macroeconomic models, and evaluating transformation scenarios focusing on energy systems and structural change. The role requires a very well-completed Master's degree in Economics or a comparable field, strong skills in econometrics, data analysis, and programming (R, Python, or similar), and excellent English proficiency. Required Skills

Education

Master's degree (Very well completed) in Economic Sciences or a comparable field

Experience

  • Professional experience applying knowledge of econometrics, applied mathematics, or applied quantitative methods to real-world problems
  • Experience in data analysis and programming using statistical programs (R, Python, or similar)
  • Ability to publish research results in relevant scientific journals
  • Experience with GAMS, GTAP, and EXIOBASE (advantageous)
