Job Summary

This role involves conducting specialized research within the publicly funded project "Roesten_intelligent2," focusing on implementing Model Predictive Control (MPC) to optimize the energy efficiency of coffee roasting machines. The Research Associate will be responsible for developing models of various coffee roasting machines using Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) and integrating these models into an MPC framework, working closely with industrial partners. Key requirements include a strong academic background (Master's/Diploma) in Electrical Engineering/Information Technology or Industrial Engineering with a focus on Control Engineering, coupled with excellent practical knowledge of modeling, control theory, ANNs, and machine learning. The position offers an opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge automation technology research at the University of Bremen, requiring high commitment, teamwork, and strong communication skills in both German (C1) and English (B2).

Required Skills

Education

Master of Science or University Diploma in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, or Industrial Engineering (Electrical Engineering) with a specialization in Control Engineering, or a comparable field. Degree must be completed with a very good grade.

Experience

  • Professional experience in modeling and Model Predictive Control
  • Professional experience with Artificial Neural Networks and machine learning
