Job Summary

The Head of the Sustainability Office will lead a newly established unit within the renowned Max Planck Society, driving the organization's ambitious climate and sustainability goals outlined in its Climate Action Plan. Day-to-day responsibilities include overseeing fundamental tasks related to energy policy, energy management, and climate neutrality, specifically ensuring compliance with the Energy Efficiency Act (EnEfG) and monitoring mandated energy savings. The role involves developing energy consumption tracking across the organization, coordinating external consultants for renewable energy procurement (especially green power), and managing international research policy analysis related to climate change (e.g., supporting IPCC/COP representation). Candidates must possess a scientific university degree, potentially a PhD, coupled with profound knowledge and leadership experience in climate policy, energy economics, and energy management.
