Job Summary
This role involves the crucial maintenance, upkeep, and commissioning of maritime traffic technology systems, including IT, electronic, and radio equipment, across both sea and land stations for the Federal Waterways and Shipping Administration. Day-to-day tasks include detailed fault analysis, troubleshooting, planning, modification, and documentation of existing infrastructure. The ideal candidate holds a qualification as a state-certified Technician in Electrical Engineering, specifically in Information and Communication Technology. Experience with network/server hardware and software (Windows, Linux), radar systems, and radio/position-finding systems (like AIS) is highly desirable. This position offers a permanent contract based in Wilhelmshaven, requiring readiness for extensive fieldwork, overnight stays, and potentially acting as an instructor for apprentices, making it a dynamic and essential public service role.

State-certified Technician qualification in Electrical Engineering, specializing in Information and Communication Technology
Experience
- Professional experience in handling hardware and software components for network and server technology, including operating systems
- Professional experience with radio and position-finding systems (e.g., directional radio, maritime radio, and AIS systems)
- Basic knowledge of operating radar systems, including associated processing and transmission procedures
- Willingness to act as an instructor for apprentices in case of substitution
