Job Summary

This role is a Doctoral Researcher position within the Institute for Bioprocess and Analytical Measurement Techniques (iba), focusing on applied research in Biotechniques at Interfaces. The core responsibility involves developing and evaluating advanced 3D model systems, such as Tumor on a Chip, using microfluidic chambers to study tumor spheroid growth and vascularization, particularly for breast, colon cancer, and glioblastoma models. Day-to-day tasks include planning, preparing, and executing complex experiments, creating 3D carrier structures using 2-Photon Lithography, and characterizing tissue models via confocal microscopy and spectroscopy. The ideal candidate holds a Master's degree in Biophysics, Biotechnology, or Physics, possesses strong skills in optical microscopy and programming (MATLAB, Python), and is proficient in both German and English, contributing to an internationally networked research environment.

Required Skills

Education

Completed Master's degree in Biophysics, Biotechnology, Physics, or comparable qualification.

Experience

  • Professional experience in optical microscopy
  • Experience with AFM and spectroscopy (desirable)
  • Experience in Microfluidics
  • Experience in 2-Photon Lithography
  • Experience in cell cultivation of mammalian cells (iPSCs experience desirable)
  • Programming experience in MATLAB, Python, and CAD software
