Job Summary

The Landeskriminalamt Niedersachsen (State Criminal Police Office of Lower Saxony) is seeking a dedicated IT System Administrator to join Department 12, focusing on management and operational resources. This role is crucial for maintaining central systems within high-security investigation networks, supporting critical police operations. Day-to-day tasks include administering server and virtualization infrastructures based on Microsoft, Linux, and VMware, managing the Active Directory, and setting up and operating container-based environments like Kubernetes or Docker. A key focus is hardening central systems to protect investigations involving the Deep and Dark Web, and conceptualizing new technical solutions for crime fighting. Candidates must possess a relevant IT degree (Bachelor or equivalent) or professional training as an IT Specialist, coupled with deep administrative knowledge of Windows and Linux server operating systems, virtualization, and container management. Required Skills

Education

Completed relevant degree in Information Technology (e.g., Computer Science, Diploma (FH) or Bachelor of Science equivalent) OR completed training as an IT Specialist (Fachinformatiker) or comparable qualification.

Experience

  • Experience in the administration and operation of container management systems (e.g., Kubernetes) or container engines (e.g., Docker)
  • Deep administrative knowledge in Windows and Linux-based server operating systems
  • Experience in handling virtualization environments, preferably VMware
  • Knowledge in the operation of network-related services (AD, DNS, DHCP)
