Job Summary

This role involves leading a small scientific team within an innovative, application-oriented environmental research project focused on aquatic systems. The primary responsibilities include developing and validating highly sensitive analytical methods, specifically using GC- and LC-(HR)MS, for detecting explosive-associated micropollutants and their transformation products in complex environmental samples, particularly coastal sediments and waterways. The Research Scientist will plan and execute laboratory experiments, conduct degradation and sorption studies, ensure analytical quality assurance, and manage project organization. The position requires a Master’s degree in Chemistry, Environmental Sciences, or Geoecology, along with expertise in environmental analytics, trace organic analysis, and experience in publishing research findings. This is a unique opportunity to work in a modern, well-equipped laboratory environment in Koblenz, contributing to critical federal research on water systems until the end of 2029.
