Job Summary

This role is for an outstanding, self-motivated Postdoctoral Researcher focusing on the interplay of nutrition, the intestinal microbiome, and chronic intestinal diseases, such as inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) and colorectal cancer. The researcher will investigate mitochondrial dysfunction in intestinal inflammation and the integration of bacterial signals at the intestinal epithelial interface using murine models and IBD patient samples. Day-to-day work involves conducting challenging interdisciplinary projects, utilizing expert facilities like germ-free mouse houses and high-throughput sequencing/mass spectrometry techniques, and contributing to the DFG-funded CRC 1371. The ideal candidate possesses a strong track record in intestinal epithelial cell biology, cellular metabolism, and mitochondrial function, along with mandatory experience in mouse models and ex vivo organoid culture. This position, integrated into the ZIEL - Institute for Food & Health at TUM, offers a stimulating scientific atmosphere and funding for 3-6 years, with the option for a habilitation program.
