Job Summary

This crucial role involves initiating, coordinating, and leading complex project work within structural hydraulic engineering, river restoration, and comprehensive flood protection measures across West Mecklenburg. The Planning Engineer will be responsible for key infrastructure projects, including dike construction, weir systems, pumping stations, and the creation of fish passage facilities, ensuring strict compliance with EU water directives (EU-WRRL and HWRM-RL). Daily tasks include preparing service specifications, managing procurement processes for planning and construction services, and overseeing construction sites and external contractors (planning offices and construction firms). Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in Water Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field, coupled with professional experience, preferably in a planning office or similar capacity. The role demands high engagement, flexibility, and the ability to manage complex tasks independently. Required Skills

Education

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Water Engineering, Water Management, Land Cultivation and Environmental Protection, Civil or Environmental Engineering, or a comparable task-related field.

Experience

  • Professional experience in a planning office and/or in the areas of water management, flood protection, or structural hydraulic engineering (desirable)
  • Ability to process complex project tasks independently and goal-oriented
  • Knowledge of procurement law (desirable)
  • Professional experience as a specialist consultant during flood events
