Job Summary

The Max Planck Institute for Coal Research in Mülheim an der Ruhr is seeking a highly motivated PhD student or Postdoctoral Researcher to join the Fundamental Principles of Organic Reactivity research program led by Guanqi Qiu. This role focuses on conceptualizing new principles of organic reactivity and catalysis, driven by an exploratory mindset rather than specific reaction outcomes. The successful candidate, preferably an experimentalist, will leverage the institute's excellent infrastructure to demonstrate novel concepts and generalize them into reaction design principles. Key qualifications include a Master’s or PhD in organic or experimental physical chemistry, basic knowledge of both disciplines, and excellent English communication skills. This position offers a unique perspective on chemical reactivity, supported by ERC Starting Grant funding, and provides ample opportunities for professional development in a renowned research environment.
