Job Summary

This role involves high-level scientific research within a national project focusing on the relationship between grapevine leaf hairiness and downy mildew infection. The Scientific Researcher will be responsible for the comprehensive planning, execution, and analysis of laboratory, greenhouse, and field experiments. Key tasks include phenotyping grapevines using standard and AI-based methods, genotyping crossing populations, creating genetic maps, and conducting QTL analyses to map relevant genetic loci. Furthermore, the researcher will develop diagnostic molecular markers, perform genome sequencing, RNA-Seq analyses for gene expression studies, and functionally characterize candidate genes using genome editing techniques like CRISPR/Cas9. This position requires a doctoral degree in Biology, Agricultural Sciences, or a related field, strong bioinformatics skills, and fluency in both German and English, offering an engaging and challenging role in an international research environment.
