Job Summary

This role is a unique opportunity for a Research Biologist to join the Institute of Neuroimmunology and Multiple Sclerosis (INIMS) at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE) as a Doctoral Candidate. The focus is on investigating immunoregulatory secretory networks during pregnancy and their modulation of Multiple Sclerosis (MS), as part of the prestigious DFG-funded Collaborative Research Centre (CRC 1713). Day-to-day tasks involve applying advanced molecular, cell biology, and immunological methods, including flow cytometry, single-cell RNA sequencing, confocal microscopy, and proteomics, primarily utilizing mouse models. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with immunologists and bioinformaticians, actively participate in the CRC Graduate Programme, and regularly present and publish research findings at international symposia. This position requires a Master's degree in a relevant life science field, practical experience in core lab techniques, and a strong scientific interest in translational research, offering structured supervision and an internationally oriented study curriculum.

Master's Degree or Diploma in Biological Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Biochemistry, or related Life Sciences field

Experience

  • Professional experience in basic cell biology, biochemical, and/or molecular biology techniques
  • Experience in scientific research and dissemination of findings (publications/presentations)
  • Preferred experience with cell culture and immunological methods (e.g., flow cytometry)
  • Preferred experience handling laboratory animals (FELASA B certification)
