Job Summary

This research position at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE) focuses on cutting-edge basic research into the inflammatory response following ischemic stroke. The successful Biologist will characterize the complex interplay between infiltrating CNS autoantigen-specific T cells and reactive brain-resident cells using advanced molecular, cellular, and immunological techniques within a well-established preclinical murine model. Daily responsibilities include the conception, execution, analysis, and comprehensive documentation of experiments, alongside scientific writing, literature review, and presentation of findings. Key requirements include a scientific university degree (Master's or equivalent) in Biology or Life Sciences, sound skills in immunology and cell biology, and a willingness to conduct animal experiments. This DFG-funded, three-year fixed-term role offers a chance to contribute meaningfully to identifying novel therapeutic targets for neuronal survival and long-term recovery after stroke, supported by an interdisciplinary team environment.

Required Skills

Education

Scientific University Degree (Master's, Diploma, or equivalent) in Biology, Life Sciences, or comparable field; Preferred: FELASA certification (for laboratory animal science)

Experience

  • Professional experience in conceiving, executing, and analyzing scientific experiments
  • Sound knowledge and practical skills in immunological and cell biological techniques
  • Preferably, prior experience in immunology research
  • Willingness to conduct animal experiments using preclinical murine models
