Job Summary

This role seeks a Quantitative Trading Analyst to drive the energy transition by developing and implementing sophisticated algorithmic trading strategies for European power and gas markets. The analyst will be responsible for modelling trading along the forward curve, understanding global market fundamentals, and identifying key price drivers to capture market value. A core function involves actively supporting traders with actionable analysis, idea generation, and ultimately bearing P&L responsibility while continuously tracking positional risks. Key qualifications include a strong quantitative university degree (e.g., Economics, Mathematics, Engineering) and professional experience in a trading environment, particularly focusing on European Power, Gas, and Emissions. Success requires expertise in building and implementing short- and long-term market models, utilizing tools like Python, SQL, and Excel for trade support, and developing visualization dashboards (e.g., PowerBI, Streamlit). This position offers the chance to operate internationally within E.ON's inclusive culture, contributing directly to the development of the Forward and Flow Trading Desk.

Required Skills

Education

University degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Engineering, Economics, Mathematics) with strong mathematical content

Experience

  • 1-2 years of practical experience in a trading environment, preferably on a trading floor
  • Focus on European Power, Gas, and Emissions markets
  • 2+ years of experience in quantitative research or trading
  • Proven ability to build and implement short- and long-term models for market analysis and backtesting
  • Demonstrated success in supporting traders with actionable trade ideas
