Job Summary

E.ON Energy Markets is seeking a Quantitative Trading Analyst to join their team in Essen or Munich, focusing on developing and modeling advanced trading strategies for European power and gas markets. This role involves quantitatively developing algorithmic strategies, understanding global market fundamentals and price drivers, and generating additional value through astute analysis. Day-to-day responsibilities include supporting traders with actionable trade ideas, tracking P&L risks, and building models for pre-trade analysis and backtesting strategies along the forward curve. The ideal candidate must possess a university degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Mathematics, Engineering) and at least two years of experience in quantitative research or trading, coupled with practical knowledge of European Power, Gas, and Emissions markets. Essential technical skills include proficiency in Python, SQL, and Excel, alongside experience developing professional dashboards (e.g., PowerBI, Streamlit) to visualize market fundamentals and support critical trading decisions. Required Skills

Education

Experience

  • 1–2 years of practical experience in a trading environment, preferably on a trading floor, focusing on European Power, Gas, and Emissions markets
  • 2+ years of experience in quantitative research or trading
  • Professional experience with strike price modeling and scenario-based price impact analysis
  • Proven ability to build and implement short- and long-term models for market analysis
  • Demonstrated success in supporting traders with actionable trade ideas
