Job Summary

This permanent Project Engineer role, based in Zurich and affiliated with ETH Zurich's strategic partner inspire AG, involves leading a critical multi-year R&D initiative focused on enhancing the efficiency and energy reduction strategies within the entire production chain of powder-based Additive Manufacturing (AM) for plastics. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and testing new materials and processing strategies, executing detailed laboratory experiments using Design of Experiments (DoE), and characterizing both powders and printed components using advanced techniques like DSC and rheology. This position requires a Master's degree in materials science, polymer engineering, or a related field, along with demonstrable experience in polymers, additives, and fatigue testing. The role is highly attractive as it offers the opportunity to pursue a PhD thesis at ETH Zurich and involves close collaboration with industrial partners, placing the engineer at the cutting edge of multi-material AM research. Excellent English proficiency is required, while German skills are beneficial.

Required Skills

Education

Master's degree in materials, additive manufacturing, polymer engineering, chemistry, or related fields.

Experience

  • Project experience, preferably within industry
  • Professional experience with polymers, additives, and fatigue/durability testing
  • Experience with powder bed fusion of plastics (preferred)
  • Experience in proposal or publication writing (advantage)
