Job Summary

The Technical University of Dresden (TUD), a German University of Excellence, is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join the Chair of Algorithmics within the Faculty of Computer Science. This three-year, fixed-term position is dedicated to advanced scientific self-qualification, typically leading to a Habilitation. The successful candidate will focus on cutting-edge algorithmic research, including areas like data structures, combinatorial optimization, complexity theory, and streaming algorithms. Key daily activities involve conducting high-level research, publishing and presenting findings at top-tier conferences and journals, initiating and drafting research funding proposals, and collaborating on national and international projects. The role also includes academic teaching (e.g., seminars) and the supervision of PhD, MSc, and BSc students. Candidates must possess a completed or impending PhD in Computer Science or Mathematics, an extensive publication record in the relevant fields, and excellent proficiency in English, both written and spoken.

Required Skills

Education

Scientific University Degree (Master's/Diploma equivalent); Doctorate (PhD) in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a closely related field (or impending completion)

Experience

  • Professional experience in scientific research within Algorithmics or related fields
  • Extensive publication record in one or more of the specified research areas (e.g., algorithms, complexity theory)
  • Experience in initiating and developing research funding applications
  • Experience in supporting and supervising PhD, MSc, and BSc students
