Job Summary

This role involves supporting research and operations within the Institute for Materials Science, focusing specifically on thermal analysis and/or alloy production for material science applications. The Technical Staff Member will be responsible for independently conducting and evaluating thermal analysis measurements, including regular calibration and maintenance of DTA/DSC devices. Key day-to-day tasks also include manufacturing and heat-treating alloys on a laboratory scale, maintaining ovens, and establishing new experimental methods. The ideal candidate holds a qualification such as a Chemical/Physical Laboratory Technician, Materials Tester, or potentially an Engineering degree (FH/University of Applied Sciences). The position requires good German and English skills, professional experience, and the ability to operate and organize the laboratory area while supporting student work and research projects. This is a permanent, part-time position (20 hours/week) at the TU Bergakademie Freiberg.

Required Skills

Education

Completed training as a Chemical or Physical Laboratory Technician, Physical-Technical Assistant, Materials Tester, or potentially an Engineering degree (University of Applied Sciences) or comparable qualification

Experience

  • Professional experience in a relevant technical field is desired
  • Experience with materials science or technical issues concerning metallic and/or ceramic material systems is advantageous
