Job Summary
This role involves serving as a Scientific Expert in image and video signal processing within the Federal Criminal Police Office (Bundeskriminalamt), focusing specifically on AI-generated and manipulated media. The expert will be responsible for processing forensic investigation requests, creating scientifically sound investigation reports, and authoring expert opinions for court proceedings. A key part of the job is conceiving and executing research and development (R&D) projects to advance forensic examination methods, particularly concerning artificial intelligence in image and video analysis. The position requires a completed scientific university degree (Master's level or equivalent) in a MINT field with an IT component, ideally specializing in generative AI and image/video analysis. This is a highly impactful, full-time role offering a path to civil service status (Verbeamtung) and the opportunity to contribute to national and international crime solving efforts through cutting-edge forensic science.
Required Skills
Education
Completed scientific university degree (Master's level or equivalent) in a MINT field with an IT component (e.g., Mathematics, Computer Science, Multimedia Forensics, or comparable), preferably with a focus on generative AI and image/video analysis
Experience
- Professional experience in image and video analysis
- Practical experience in the production, detection, and analysis of artificially generated or manipulated image and video data using AI
- Experience in representing technical interests at national and international levels
- Experience in teaching and lecturing activities

- Willingness to submit a DNA sample; Willingness to process investigation material with potentially disturbing or traumatizing content; Willingness to undertake domestic and international business travel (up to 4 times per year, 1 day to 1 week in length); Ability to work flexible hours for case processing and R&D activities; Eligibility for civil service status (Verbeamtung) is the goal.
