This critical role establishes the Service Owner as the central point of contact for the Cloud Platform, ensuring it delivers maximum utility to internal customers. Day-to-day responsibilities include rigorous ownership of the platform backlog, transparently prioritizing requirements based on utility, effort, and risk, and establishing a reliable release cadence through regular iterations. The Service Owner coordinates implementation efforts across Cloud DevOps Engineers and external partners, translating complex business goals, availability, data protection, and cost frameworks into actionable work packages. A significant focus of the role is budget accountability, involving cost forecasting, ensuring monthly transparency regarding expenditures, and actively identifying and prioritizing cost-saving potentials such as right-sizing and reservations. The ideal candidate holds a degree in Computer Science or Business Informatics and possesses several years of experience as a Service Owner in a Cloud or IT Service environment, coupled with a solid understanding of Azure fundamentals and modern platform development principles.
