Job Summary

This PhD position at the INM Leibniz Institute focuses on cutting-edge materials research for next-generation batteries, specifically studying weak covalent bonds within MXene nanoconfinement. The successful candidate will be responsible for the synthesis of MXene and other 2D nanomaterials, functionalizing their intralayer space, and conducting comprehensive electrochemical characterization using techniques like cyclic voltammetry, galvanostatic charge/discharge, and impedance spectroscopy. Day-to-day tasks include performing ex situ and in situ material characterization using advanced methods such as X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, and Scanning Electron Microscopy. The role requires rigorous data analysis, contributing significantly to scientific publications, and presenting research findings at international conferences. Applicants must hold a Master’s degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related field and possess demonstrable experience with 2D materials, MXene, and advanced electrochemical methods. This opportunity offers strong support for high-quality research within an international, interdisciplinary team that interacts closely with leading industrial partners.
