Job Summary

This Technical Assistant role is crucial for the "Smart Technologies for Tumor Therapy" department at the new DKFZ Dresden outpost, focusing on developing innovative cancer-fighting technologies using sensors, robotics, and AI. The assistant will independently plan and execute complex biological experiments, including cell culture, molecular biology, microscopy, and histology. A key responsibility involves managing ethical approvals and conducting small animal experiments (mice/rats), requiring prior experience and a mandatory FELASA certification. Day-to-day tasks also encompass the organization and maintenance of S1/S2 biology labs, rigorous inventory management of chemicals and media, and ensuring lab safety and quality control, including equipment calibration. The successful candidate must possess completed technical training (MTA/BTA/CTA) and excellent organizational skills, contributing to an international, interdisciplinary team dedicated to cancer research. The position is initially offered as a 2-year fixed-term contract, starting December 2025.

Completed training as a Technical Assistant (MTA, BTA, CTA) or Biological Laboratory Technician, Completed FELASA course

Experience

  • Professional experience (several years) in a laboratory environment, ideally focused on Chemistry or related areas (Desirable)
  • Experience with small animal experimental work (Required)
  • Experience with S1/S2 laboratories (Desirable)
  • Experience with large animal experiments (Desirable)
