Job Summary

This role seeks a Service Developer to join the eScience group at GWDG, focusing on developing and operating modern services that support digital education and scientific research. The core responsibilities involve working on a scalable, AI-supported content management system for learning materials (OER). Day-to-day tasks include applying generative AI, developing features based on Large Language Models (LLMs) for content analysis and metadata generation, and integrating various applications with existing AI infrastructure and educational APIs. Candidates should possess a university degree in Computer Science, Digital Humanities, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field, strong programming proficiency, and practical experience developing web services and APIs. Interest in AI, LLMs, or decentralized social networks (like Nostr) is highly desirable. This position offers a unique, agile, and interdisciplinary environment at the intersection of academia and innovative technology, with flexible working hours and opportunities for long-term collaboration and professional qualification, including the possibility of pursuing a PhD.

Required Skills

Education

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Digital Humanities, Physics, Mathematics, or a comparable technical qualification.

Experience

  • Professional experience in a relevant technical or scientific field (e.g., Computer Science, Digital Humanities, Physics, or Mathematics)
  • Professional experience developing and operating Web Services or APIs
  • Strong programming proficiency in one or more languages (e.g., Python, Java, or TypeScript)
  • Experience working within an agile team environment
