Job Summary

The Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg is seeking a part-time Research Associate (25%) for a fixed-term contract focusing on translational oncology within the Department of Visceral, Vascular, and Endocrine Surgery. This role is dedicated to executing a scientific research project investigating the role of ER stress and perineural invasion in pancreatic carcinoma. The successful candidate will be responsible for applying and developing co-culture models involving tumor cells, nerve cells, and Cancer-Associated Fibroblasts (CAFs) to analyze tumor-stroma interaction. Key responsibilities include conducting functional experiments using CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing, performing molecular validation techniques like Immunofluorescence (IF), Western Blotting, and FACS analysis, and actively publishing research findings. This position is ideal for a scientist with a background in molecular biology or medicine who seeks to deepen their scientific competencies and advance their research profile in a high-impact area of cancer research.

Required Skills

Education

Master of Science, State Examination, or equivalent in Biology, Medicine, Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics, or related fields

Experience

  • Demonstrated experience with co-culture models for investigating tumor-nerve and tumor-stroma interaction
  • Authorship of at least one publication in a PubMed-listed journal concerning pancreatic carcinoma and Cancer-Associated Fibroblasts (CAFs)
  • Practical experience in IF / Western Blot / ICC / IHC and FACS
  • Knowledge in gene editing, including CRISPR/Cas9
