Job Summary

The Federal Agency for Agriculture and Food (BLE) is seeking a Technical Inspector to lead the 'Technical Inspection' section within Department 535, focusing on the agency's fleet of three fishery protection boats and three fishery research vessels. This role involves ensuring the operational readiness and technical advancement of the fleet, particularly regarding sustainability and energy efficiency. Day-to-day responsibilities include assessing and resolving technical malfunctions with onboard personnel, planning and overseeing new constructions, modifications, and repairs, and managing related budgets and investments. The successful candidate will also be responsible for maintaining ship safety measures and cultivating a robust network of industry partners. Required Skills

Education

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Business and Organizational Sciences, or comparable fields. Alternatively, a vocational qualification such as Master Shipbuilder, Certified Ship Technician, Master Mechanical Engineer, Certified Mechanical Engineering Technician, Master Electrician, Certified Electrical Engineering Technician, or Master Mechatronics Technician.

Experience

  • Professional experience in technical inspection or related field
  • Knowledge of ship technology or willingness to acquire it
  • Knowledge of national and international regulations for ship operation and approval or willingness to acquire it
  • Market knowledge in ship maintenance and repair or willingness to acquire it

Additional

  • Must be eligible for a security clearance according to §§ 8, 9 SÜG (Sicherheitsüberprüfungsgesetz). Existing security clearance is a plus. Location is Hamburg, Germany. Applications must be submitted in German.
