Job Summary

This role is for a highly motivated Research Associate and Doctoral Candidate to join the New Manufacturing Technologies and Materials Chair at Bergische Universität Wuppertal. The successful candidate will be deeply involved in a research project focused on alloy development of duplex steels for additive manufacturing, conducting material tests, and preparing scientific publications. They will also present research findings at meetings and conferences, supervise student theses, and contribute to teaching. Required Skills

Education

Master's degree (or equivalent) in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or Physics

Experience

  • Experience in setting up and conducting experiments
  • Professional experience with metallographic characterization
  • Professional experience with Fe-based materials, especially duplex steels, MMC, and FGM
  • Desirable: practical experience in additive manufacturing (WAAM, L-PBF, L-DED) and powder metallurgy (HIP, MIM)
  • Professional experience in computer-aided material development (e.g., Calphad, MATLAB, Python, phase-field methods)
  • Practical experience in additive manufacturing and material testing of steels is explicitly desired
