Job Summary

Join a dynamic research team in Quedlinburg as a Technical Assistant, contributing to a third-party funded project focused on potato breeding for enhanced resistance to pectinolytic bacteria. This role involves hands-on laboratory and greenhouse work, including maintaining bacterial strains, performing phenotyping methods for potato diseases, and conducting molecular biology tasks such as DNA extraction, PCR, and sequencing preparation. You will also be responsible for setting up, monitoring, and documenting experiments, as well as preparing protocols and preliminary data analysis using Excel. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a background in biological sciences and a passion for plant research, offering a varied and challenging role within an international scientific environment.

Required Skills

Education

Completed training as a Technical Assistant or Biological Laboratory Technician, or an equivalent qualification

Experience

  • Experience in setting up and conducting experiments with plants and their infection with bacteria
  • Good knowledge and experience in the molecular field
  • Professional experience with Microsoft Office programs, including Excel

Additional

  • Fixed-term full-time employment until July 31, 2026, with a possibility of extension for two additional years. Start date: January 1, 2026.
