Job Summary

The City of Dessau-Roßlau is seeking a Helpdesk Manager / IT System Administrator to lead the IT Helpdesk and manage the city's IT infrastructure. This role involves overseeing the development of helpdesk processes, operating and monitoring IT infrastructure including server rooms, climate, and UPS technologies, and ensuring robust backup and recovery solutions. The ideal candidate will administer Windows and Linux servers (virtual and physical), manage MS SQL and Oracle databases, and maintain network components like firewalls, switches, and WLAN. Additionally, the position involves administering and developing the Baramundi Management Suite and managing Active Directory for user administration and security policies. Required Skills

Education

University degree (Diploma/Bachelor) in Computer Science, Business Informatics, or comparable IT field; OR University degree (FH/Bachelor) in Electrical Engineering; OR Completed vocational training as an IT Specialist, IT System Electronics Technician, or comparable IT-related vocational qualification.

Experience

  • Professional experience in leading and motivating a Helpdesk team, including workflow organization and task distribution (advantageous)
  • Experience in IT project management and managing external contractors (advantageous)
  • Foundational knowledge in the listed task areas (desirable)
  • At least 3 years of relevant professional experience with an Electrical Engineering degree (FH/Bachelor)
  • At least 6 years of relevant professional experience with a vocational qualification in IT
