Job Summary

The Max Rubner-Institut is seeking a Research Scientist to join its team in Kiel, focusing on minimizing off-flavor-associated cyanotoxins in edible fish. This role involves developing and applying analytical methods, specifically LC-MS and GC-MS, for cyanotoxins and off-flavor compounds in water, algae, and fish matrices. The successful candidate will contribute to the 'Antitox' project, aiming to support German inland fisheries and aquaculture by developing 'probiotic' algae to displace toxin-forming cyanobacteria. Day-to-day tasks include method development for sample preparation and analysis, software-supported data evaluation, and publishing results primarily in English. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to public welfare through cutting-edge research in food safety and environmental science within a collaborative scientific network.

Required Skills

Education

Master's degree or equivalent in Chemistry, Food Chemistry, or a comparable field with similar qualifications. Aiming for a doctorate is desired.

Experience

  • Experience in writing scientific manuscripts for international peer-reviewed journals
