Job Summary

The University of Trier is seeking a dedicated Voice-over-IP Support Specialist to join its Center for Information, Media, and Communication Technology (ZIMK). In this role, you will provide comprehensive 1st, 2nd, and 3rd-level support for VoIP and Unified Communications systems, playing a key part in their ongoing development and integration. Your responsibilities will include administering VoIP applications (SaaS) and infrastructure, deploying hardware like phones and ATA boxes, and assisting with network administration (switches, WLAN, VLAN). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in troubleshooting, incident/problem management, and network technology, coupled with excellent customer service skills and a proactive approach to adopting innovative technologies. Relevant completed vocational training (e.g., IT Specialist) OR several years of relevant professional experience

Experience

  • Professional experience in analysis, diagnosis, and troubleshooting of malfunctions
  • Experience with Incident and Problem Management, and Service Request Fulfillment processes
  • Professional experience with network technology (Switches, VLAN, WLAN etc.)
  • Professional experience with VoIP hardware (e.g., telephones, ATA-boxes etc.)
  • Professional experience in the administration and operation of VoIP application servers (SaaS environment)
