Job Summary
Join IonQ, a global leader in quantum computing, to design and implement the high-impact IonQ Cloud Platform, which connects customers to the world's most powerful ion-trap quantum computers via APIs and partner clouds like AWS, GCP, and Azure. This Senior Staff role requires an experienced Full-Stack developer to lead the architecture and implementation of highly available, fault-tolerant microservices. Key responsibilities include defining APIs, developing and maintaining the CI/CD pipeline, integrating with external quantum platforms, and enhancing core services like authentication (OAuth/SAML) and the billing engine. You will mentor other developers and collaborate closely with product, application, and science teams to deliver the best possible developer experience in the quantum computing space. This is a unique opportunity to apply deep technical expertise in distributed systems and cloud development (especially GCP) to revolutionize industries ranging from medicine and finance to AI and cryptography.
Required Skills
Education
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent training, scholarships, or professional experience.
Experience
- Minimum 10 years of professional experience in software development.
- Minimum 5 years of experience developing on the Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Extensive practical experience developing scalable and robust services on large cloud platforms.
- Proven experience leading projects within a cross-functional team environment.

- Requires physical presence in the Basel office at least 3 days per week. Must participate in on-call duties. Requires willingness to travel for one annual team meeting in the USA.
