Job Summary
Join IonQ, a leader in trapped-ion quantum computing, as a Senior Staff Full Stack Software Engineer to build and scale the critical IonQ Cloud Platform. This platform serves as the essential connection point, linking customers to quantum computers via APIs, specialized tools, and major partner clouds like AWS, GCP, and Azure. Your core mission will be to lead the design and implementation of a highly available, fault-tolerant microservices architecture, defining APIs and capabilities that ensure a seamless quantum developer experience. This role requires 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including deep expertise in Go, Rust, JavaScript, and developing robust services on Google Cloud Platform. You will also be responsible for designing authentication (OAuth, SAML), authorization, and the core billing engine. This is a unique opportunity to mentor engineers and drive innovation at the intersection of cloud scalability and revolutionary quantum technology.
Required Skills
Education
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent training or work experience
Experience
- 10+ years of professional experience in software engineering
- 5+ years of experience developing on Google Cloud Platform
- Strong experience with large-scale cloud service platforms and designing scalable, robust services
- Strong experience working with distributed systems architecture and message queues (e.g., Kafka, Google Pub/Sub)
- Strong experience in leading projects in a cross-functional team environment
