Job Summary

This PhD position offers a talented scientist the opportunity to conduct cutting-edge research within the International PhD Programme (IPP) Mainz, focusing on "Molecular Mechanisms in Genome Stability & Gene Regulation." The successful candidate will join the Petra Beli research group to investigate mechanisms opposing R-loop-associated DNA double-strand breaks, specifically focusing on the regulation of Ribonuclease H1. This involves analyzing how the enzyme's activity is directed to pathological R-loops, studying phosphorylation, ubiquitylation, and compartmentalization, and exploring the interplay between R-loop accumulation and inflammatory responses. The role provides advanced training, access to state-of-the-art core facilities, and the chance to collaborate with an international community of scientists, making it an excellent launchpad for a scientific career.
