Job Summary

This PhD position offers talented scientists the opportunity to delve into cutting-edge research on "Molecular Mechanisms in Genome Stability & Gene Regulation" within the International PhD Programme (IPP) Mainz. The successful candidate will join a vibrant community of researchers, focusing on a project titled "Mechanistic insights into novel mRNA export complexes." This role involves investigating the intricate process of nuclear mRNA export, particularly the function of the TREX-complex member UAP56 and its novel interactors. Day-to-day tasks will include applying biochemical reconstitution, genetic approaches using zebrafish and fruit fly models, structural biology (cryo-EM, AlphaFold), cellular assays, proteomics, transcriptomics, and high-resolution microscopy. This position is ideal for an ambitious scientist eager to push research boundaries in an interdisciplinary, international environment, providing comprehensive training and full funding.
