Job Summary

This role involves leading the Water Chemistry department within the Rhineland-Palatinate State Office for the Environment in Mainz. The successful candidate will be responsible for conceptualizing and managing statewide monitoring programs for the chemical and physical quality of flowing waters, crucial for national and international reporting obligations like the EU Water Framework Directive. Day-to-day tasks include evaluating the chemical status of surface water bodies, advising authorities on water chemistry issues and pollution incidents, and participating in relevant national and international committees. Required Skills

Education

Master's or Diploma (University/TH/TU) in Chemistry

Experience

  • Professional experience with properties and effects of substances on chemical water status
  • Experience in and with leading employees (advantageous)
  • Practical experience with large datasets and database applications (advantageous)
  • Practical experience in public procurement (advantageous)

Languages

German (Fluent)

Additional

  • Willingness to undertake multi-day business trips; Driver's License Class B (advantageous); Proof of equivalence for foreign educational qualifications required.
