Job Summary
This role involves leading the Human Resources Management department at the Johann Heinrich von Thünen Institute, a federal research institute in Braunschweig, Germany. The successful candidate will manage a team of approximately 20 employees, strategically developing HR processes, standards, and structures. Key responsibilities include handling fundamental and complex legal HR issues, particularly in federal civil service law, collective bargaining law (TVöD), fixed-term contract law (WissZeitVG, TzBfG), and social security law. The position requires advising and supporting the institute's various departments on intricate HR matters and actively participating in HR-related change processes and projects. Required Skills
Education
University degree in Public Administration/Administrative Management/General Administration (Dipl.-Verwaltungswirt/in, B.A.), Administrative Economics (Dipl.-Verwaltungsbetriebswirt/in; B.A.), Law, Human Resources Management and Human Resources Psychology (LL.B.), or a business administration bachelor's degree or comparable degree (FH-Diplom; B.A.)
Experience
- Several years of professional and leadership experience
- Preferred experience in human resources administration within a federal authority, university, or other public law institution
- Extensive knowledge of public service HR topics
- In-depth expertise in human resources management
- Solid knowledge and competence in civil service, labor, and collective bargaining law
- Basic knowledge of federal budget law
