Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Research Associate to join the Faculty of Sustainable Agricultural and Energy Systems at Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences. The role focuses on developing Machine Learning-based approaches for early detection of fungal diseases in plant production using Computer Vision and creating a Time Series Forecasting-based early warning system. Day-to-day tasks include contributing to pathogen detection from digital microscopic image data, refining models for new spore traps, and developing regional forecasting methods. This position offers the chance to make a significant impact on reducing pesticide use, collaborate with agricultural experts, publish research, and present at international conferences. It is ideal for individuals near or after PhD completion, or those seeking to pursue a doctorate, which is actively supported.

Required Skills

Education

Successfully completed university degree (Diplom [Univ.] or Master) in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Statistics, Computer Vision, Agricultural Sciences, Agriculture, or a comparable field. PhD opportunity supported.
