Job Summary

The Thuringian Zoopark Erfurt is seeking a dedicated Curator for the curatorial and scientific management of its diverse animal collection. This full-time, temporary position, serving as a parental leave replacement, involves a wide range of responsibilities from developing naturalistic enclosure concepts and overseeing breeding programs to collaborating with authorities on animal stock changes and permits. The role also includes providing expert guidance to animal keepers, conducting training for apprentices, and engaging in scientific work such as contributing to studies and publishing research. Furthermore, the Curator will design educational exhibitions to promote biodiversity conservation, working closely with the zoo's educational department. The ideal candidate will possess leadership skills, a solution-oriented approach, empathy, flexibility, and a passion for working with both people and animals, contributing to a modern understanding of zoological practice.
