Job Summary

This role involves leading a highly motivated team responsible for the design, development, and operation of the central server and storage infrastructure within a modern university's data centers. The successful candidate will manage budget planning, coordinate framework agreements, and secure external funding for the IT operations area. Key responsibilities include conceptualizing and procuring virtual infrastructures, planning and operating data centers with a focus on high availability and disaster recovery, and ensuring IT security. The position offers significant creative freedom in a complex, innovative enterprise IT environment, with opportunities for professional development and contributing to the strategic evolution of IT services, both on-premise and cloud-based. Required Skills

Education

Master's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Business Informatics, or Engineering, or an equivalent university degree (minimum 8 semesters)

Experience

  • Professional experience in leading teams
  • Professional experience in leading IT infrastructure projects
  • Proven knowledge and experience in the operation and further development of virtualization environments (e.g., Broadcom ESXi, Docker)
  • Proven knowledge and experience in the operation and further development of storage and backup environments (e.g., Veeam, CommVault)
  • Experience in data center operations (including monitoring environments, automation) with its processes and framework conditions (e.g., DIN EN 50600, certification, BSI basic protection/IT security, disaster planning, sustainable climate solutions)
