Job Summary
This role involves leading and organizing the chemistry laboratory within the Conservation and Restoration program at Potsdam University of Applied Sciences. The successful candidate will conduct scientific analyses to assess historical and modern materials, using instrumental analytical methods, and provide scientific support for object and project work in teaching and research. A key aspect of the position is the accompanying instruction of students in laboratory work, measurement techniques, microchemical techniques, and health and safety. The role also includes acquiring and managing third-party funded projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a professional with a strong background in chemistry or conservation science to contribute to the preservation of cultural heritage and to educate the next generation of conservators.
Required Skills
Education
Successfully completed scientific university degree (Diplom, M.A., M.Sc.) in Chemistry, Conservation Science, or a comparable field, ideally with a focus on organic chemistry.
Experience
- Practical experience in cultural heritage preservation
- Practical experience in laboratory work using scientific methods
- Experience in sampling, sample preparation, and analysis with interpretation of samples from art and cultural objects
- Didactic competence in conveying theory and practice
