Job Summary

This role as a Technical Assistant at the TRIGA Mainz research reactor involves critical tasks in the detection, measurement, and safe handling of radioactive substances. The successful candidate will be responsible for detecting radioactive materials using various measurement techniques, performing chemical processing and radiological measurements of environmental samples, and determining radionuclide-specific emissions from the reactor's exhaust and wastewater. Key duties also include measuring and assessing liquid and solid radioactive waste, managing the dispatch and issuance of radioactive materials, and supporting decontamination efforts. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research and ensure the safe operation of a major research facility, working within a dedicated radiation protection team.

Required Skills

Education

Successfully completed training as a Technical Assistant (preferably Chemical-Technical Assistant or Physical-Technical Assistant) or as a Laboratory Technician with equivalent skills and experience. Other relevant technical assistant qualifications are also welcome.

  • This is a part-time position (50% employment). The position is limited until July 31, 2027, with the possibility of subsequent permanent employment and increased working hours. Location is Mainz, Germany. Applicants with severe disabilities will be given preferential consideration.
