Job Summary

This role involves conducting critical microbiological analyses of various environmental samples, including water (drinking, bathing, wastewater), compost, sewage sludge, and material samples, to detect microbial contamination. The successful candidate will also perform hygiene monitoring, such as indoor air quality checks, and ensure quality assurance through meticulous documentation, monitoring incubation parameters, and conducting quality controls for analyses and culture media. A key responsibility includes preparing culture media and contributing to the validation and verification of analytical methods. Additionally, the role requires the care and maintenance of zebrafish and general laboratory tasks. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with a background in laboratory science or animal care, who is committed to accuracy and quality in a dynamic environmental laboratory setting.

Required Skills

Education

Completed vocational training as a Chemical or Biological Laboratory Technician, or comparable qualification (e.g., BTA, UTA, MTA), or Animal Caretaker, or career changer with laboratory experience.

Experience

  • Professional experience in a laboratory setting, preferably with microbiological focus
  • Experience with hygienic work practices and attention to detail
  • Experience with structured, independent, and responsible work
  • Willingness to work occasional early/late shifts and weekends on a rotating basis
