Job Summary
This full-time Project Coordinator role, based in Freiberg, Germany, involves leading the "LIFE4HamsterSaxony" project, a crucial initiative to re-establish a self-sustaining wild hamster population in Saxony. Day-to-day, you will be responsible for the overall coordination, cost management, and reporting to the EU, as well as overseeing investigations, planning, and monitoring activities. A key part of the role includes developing project messaging, managing press and public relations, and fostering communication with project partners like Zoo Leipzig and local authorities. The ideal candidate will possess a scientific university degree in fields such as Biology or Nature Conservation, coupled with experience in project management, particularly with EU-funded (LIFE) projects, and a strong background in species conservation and agricultural biology. This position offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on biodiversity conservation in a supportive team environment.
Required Skills
Education
Successfully completed scientific university degree (Diplom/Master) in Biology, Nature Conservation, Landscape Management, Agriculture, Forestry, Landscape Planning, or a comparable field. (Accredited Master's degrees are required for Fachhochschule studies).
Experience
- Professional experience in project management, preferably with LIFE projects or projects of comparable complexity
- Professional experience in agricultural biology, particularly arable farming and causes of decline/measures for endangered agricultural species
- Professional experience in nature and species conservation with a focus on mammals (field hamsters)
- Professional experience in nature conservation law and monitoring, especially Natura 2000
- Professional experience in public relations and press/media work
- Practical experience in implementing species protection measures, especially in the agricultural sector (advantageous)

Additional
- Class B driving license is required. The position is a full-time, fixed-term contract until December 31, 2031. Work permit for Germany required.
