Job Summary

This role is for an experienced Environmental Technician to join the Central Department of the Research Reactor at the Helmholtz-Zentrum Hereon in Geesthacht, near Hamburg. The primary focus of this position is to manage conventional residual materials and waste during the decommissioning of nuclear facilities. Key responsibilities include developing release concepts and documentation, creating process flows, identifying pollutants, and overseeing waste and hazardous goods management. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in waste and hazardous materials, with a focus on compliance and continuous improvement. Required Skills

Education

State-certified (recognized) Technician in Environmental Protection Technology or comparable qualification, Specialist knowledge as a Waste Officer according to § 60 Circular Economy Act (KrWG) and § 9 Waste Officer Ordinance (AbfBeauftrV)

Experience

  • Professional experience in residual material and waste management
  • Experience with residual material processing procedures and waste treatment options
  • Knowledge of residual materials, hazardous goods, and other environmental legal areas
