Job Summary

This role is for an IT Specialist focused on High-Performance Computing (HPC) support and resource management within the IT Center of RWTH Aachen University. The successful candidate will be responsible for technically reviewing HPC project proposals, setting up compute time projects, and communicating with HPC users. Day-to-day tasks include assisting users with the CLAIX supercomputer, developing scripts for reporting and compute time management, and enhancing monitoring system functionalities. The position also involves administering Linux servers and supporting time-series and relational databases. Required Skills

Education

Completed vocational training as an IT Specialist (System Integration or Application Development) or equivalent qualification.

Experience

  • Professional experience in Linux-based environments
  • Initial experience in system administration of Linux systems (desirable)
  • Initial experience in database administration (desirable)
  • Initial experience with HPC systems or batch systems (desirable)
  • Initial experience in scripting (desirable)
  • Initial experience with virtualization technologies (desirable)
  • Initial experience in user consulting (desirable)
